Q: How would I know God is calling me to the priesthood? How about yourself Father?
Priest: If we had the desire to do so, since that desire is the first step we think of our vocation. Although it is very difficult to understand what God wants from us, yet this desire should not be considered as something very simple. I always want to become a priest especially when I was young, and I had a very deep experience of the Holy Mass… Although at that age I did not clearly understand what priesthood is about, but I still felt that I would wish to be a priest. I think the love to the Eucharist has also pushed me...During the interview to join the seminary, the bishop asked me: “Why do you want to become a priest?” I said: “Because I love Jesus, that is why I want to become a priest.” Different people have different ways to express love, some people give roses to their lovers and say ‘I love you’...But my way of saying I love Jesus, and the only way I knew how to say it was to become a priest and say to Jesus: ‘Jesus, I love you’.
Q: What is life like as a seminarian?
Priest: It involves a lot of spiritual experiences at times, there were also guidance and confusions. You can have fun, and you can be naughty with friends. One thing which I really valued in the seminarian life was the ‘Holy Silence’. After the night prayer, we had a reading of the Gospel for tomorrow, then we went to bed. And if anyone breaks that silence they will be sent home, because that was considered to be very very serious. What I liked about that sleep was, sleeping with the Word of God that we are going to pray tomorrow, then with the Word of God inside you when getting up the next morning.
