Message from Fr Chris in Tanzania (2)
This is the Health Centre at Kwalukonge built by the Rosminians a few years ago. Funds from all the UK parishes assisted in its construction. In the other photo, we, the provincials at the meeting are greeting the local families of mostly Massai people who use the clinic and have come to say ‘hello’. The children here would be very grateful in having had safe births at this clinic. We were able to speak to the resident doctor and others who showed us around the operating area, the X-ray suite, the ultrasound unit and blood unit. It is health centre to be proud of and they want to expand it. Our parish gave two Land Rovers years ago as travelling clinics to reach the distant areas. In our meetings we treated of many aspects of Mission, including formation of our young students for the various types of work to which they may be called.. We heard stories of the early missionaries who came to Tanzania 80 years ago and began to build a mission campus from scratch. Working with the people they built a school house, a Sisters house, a dispensary, a church and priest’s house. Mission funds were essential for their progress and in all this we can continue to help the expanding missions
