The Power of the Holy Rosary
There was once a woman who gave herself to the devil and even signed the contract with her blood. But she deeply regret it soon afterwards and had a great desire to make reparation for what she has done. So she asked a confessor who advised her to see Father Henry - a Dominican and director of the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary. So she went to and asked to see him, but instead of Fr Henry, she met a devil disguised as a friar who condemned her mercilessly and told her there is no hope that she will receive God's grace again and to retract what she had signed. Although she was terribly upset but she still has hope in God's Mercy and ask to see Fr Henry again, but she met the devil again and received the same treatment a second time. Yet she went back there a third time and by God's Providence she finally found Fr Henry in person. The Priest was very kind to her and advised her to throw herself on God's Mercy and make a good confession. He then enrolled her into the Confraternity and told her to say the Holy Rosary often. One day, while Fr Henry was offering Mass for her, Our Blessed Lady forced the devil to give Her back the contract the woman has signed. Thus, through the authority of Our Lady and this woman's devotion to the Holy Rosary, she was delivered from the chains of the devil.

What is a Miracle of the Eucharist? Miracles of the Eucharist are miraculous divine interventions that are aimed at the confirming faith in the real presence of the body and blood of the Lord in the Eucharist. We are familiar with the Catholic doctrine relating to this real presence; with the Words of Consecration, “this is my body” and “this is my blood,” the substance of the bread becomes the body of Christ and the substance of the wine becomes his blood. This awe-inspiring change is known as transubstantiation, in other words, the transition of the substance. Only the appearances, or species, of the bread and wine remain; these are known by the philosophical term “accidents”. The dimensions, colour, flavour and odour remain, as do the nutrients, but the substance, or rather the true reality, does not remain because it has become the body and blood of Christ. Transubstantiation can in no way be experienced by the senses; faith alone makes certain of this miraculous change. Miracles of the Eucharist are intend to confirm this faith, which is based on the words of Christ, according to which what seems like bread is no longer bread, and what seems like wine is no longer wine. Flesh and blood, or one or the other, appear in Miracles of the Eucharist, depending on the case. The aim of miracles such as these is to demonstrate that we should not look at external appearances (bread and wine), but at the substance, at the true reality of things, which is flesh and blood…The Lord carries out these miracles to give a sign that is easy and visible to all, that the real body and blood of Christ are present in the Eucharist. But this real body and this real blood are not those that appear, rather they are substantially contained beneath the species or appearances, species or appearances that were those of the bread and wine before the miracle, and after the miracle are those of flesh and blood. Christ is truly and substantially contained beneath the appearances of flesh and blood, just as he was before the miracle. This is why we can worship Christ in his real presence beneath the species of the flesh and blood. Fr Roberto Coggi O.P.
O God, who on the Solemnity of the Apostles Peter and Paul give us the noble and holy joy of this day, grant, we pray, that your Church may in all things follow the teaching of those through whom she received the beginnings of right religion. Through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Both apostles share the same feast day, for these two were one; and even though they suffered on different days, they were as one. Peter went first, and Paul followed. And so we celebrate this day made holy for us by the apostles’ blood. Let us embrace what they believed, their life, their labors, their sufferings, their preaching, and their confession of faith. ~ Saint Augustine of Hippo Saints Peter and Paul are considered the foundational pillars of the Church. Peter represents the stability of the Church and the office of the Vicar of Christ. Paul represents the mission of evangelization that was entrusted to the Church by Jesus Himself. He was also the Church’s first theologian, which is seen in his numerous letters that expound on the Gospels. Though unlikely, one tradition states that they were both martyred on June 29, in Rome, making them twin martyrs. Their twin martyrdom reminds us that the Church must be both stable and mission-oriented. It must remain grounded in the ancient Truth, yet grow and flower with an ongoing understanding of the mysteries of faith. As we honor these two pillars of the Church, recall the fact that, though they are great saints, they were also ordinary men called to extraordinary vocations. They responded and God used them in ways they could have never imagined. Ponder your own calling in light of theirs and resolve to lay your life down for the Church, joining yourself to these two men so that God can continue their holy mission through you.

There will be a Second Collection for the Day for Life Fund next Sunday 21 June . The Fund provides financial assistance each year to organisations working to support the Church’s mission to protect human life from conception to natural death. Each year, the money donated by the faithful on the Day for Life is dispersed to these organisations to assist them in undertaking specific projects relating to life issues.

Tables are now available for £10 each. Please book your table this Saturday/Sunday in the Church porch. We welcome all, individual Parishioners and St Peter's Church groups to take part. Stalls can be set up from 9am and pack up by 3pm. You can decide what to sell on your table. It is hoped that 20% OR MORE of the profit can contribute towards the Parish fundraising.

The Archdiocese is partnering with Catholic Christian Outreach for a 3-week Diocesan Mission - from 19 June to 5 July 2026 . Twelve missionaries will be joining us to help us learn a practical approach to evangelisation called Intentional Accompaniment, equipping us to walk with others on their journey of faith. Third Revelation to St Margaret Mary: First Friday Devotion, 1674 On one occasion, during the Eucharistic Exposition…my sweet Master, presented Himself to me, all resplendent with glory, His Five Wounds shining like so many suns. From every part of His Sacred Humanity there issued flames but especially from His Adorable Bosom, which was like an open furnace. He disclosed to me His most loving and amiable Heart, which was the living source of those flames. At that point He made known to me the unspeakable marvels of His pure love, and showed me to what an excess He had loved everyone, from whom He received only ingratitude and contempt. Jesus: “I feel this more than all that I suffered in my Passion. If they would only give Me some return for My love, I should think little of all I have done for them, and would wish to suffer more if possible. But they only return Me with rejection and treat Me with coldness for all My eagerness to do them good. You, at least, can give Me the consolation to make up for their ingratitude, as much as you can…First, you are to receive me in Holy Communion as often as obedience will allow, no matter what mortification or humiliation it may cause you...Moreover, you are to receive the Eucharist on the First Friday of each month. Every night between Thursday and Friday I will make you share that sorrow unto death which I was pleased to feel in the Garden of Olives…To join with Me in the humble prayer which I then offered to My Father, in the midst of My agony, you should arise between eleven o’clock and midnight, and stay prostrate with Me for an hour, not only to appease the Divine anger by begging mercy for sinners, but also in some way to soothe the bitterness I felt when finding My apostles abandoned Me and I was constrained to reproach them that they could not watch one hour with Me…” (Excerpts from St Margaret Mary Alacoque’s autobiography)
