Q: Do I need to have any special characters to become a priest?
Priest: No. (So you just bring yourself along with your heart?) Yes. Jesus wants variety. Look at the twelve disciples. It might be very difficult for us to accept it like that; even the Pharisees also became very uneasy that the disciples of Jesus came from various backgrounds and have different characters. Yet Jesus was comfortable with it.
Q: I want to join the seminary, but my family opposed. What should I do?
Priest: Pray and wait, to see if there is an answer. My parents were also really against it, and I spoke to a priest who was my confessor, and he spoke to my father who came home. That was also the first time I came to know about the Divine Mercy, and I prayed continuously for my priesthood vocation. At first, my father was “No point. Don’t think about it.” But I kept praying, and my parents finally understood because at first they never believe that I really want to be a priest; but after that they started to see how serious I was. At the end, they said: “If you want, you can join the diocese.”
