God's love for you
Catholic A: But I am ashamed to confess my sins to the priest, I feel so embarrassed...
Catholic B: A priest is bound by what is called the ‘sigillum’ or the seal of confession. Because he is only the instrument of Our Lord, the sins that he hears are not for him, they are not a part of his knowledge, he merely in this instance was the ear of Christ, he may not divulge any sin that you confess even under the pain of death, and every priest will keep your confession absolutely secret for the rest of his life. So none of your sins will ever be told nor can they even speak to you about them outside the confession box. Let me quote in here what Our Lord has said to St. Faustina: “...you make your Confession in My presence; I am merely using the priest to hide behind him. Never deliberate on what that priest behind whom I stand is like, and tell him everything... and I will fill your soul with My light.” (Diary 1725) “...I Myself am waiting for you in the confessional… If their trustfulness is great, then My mercy shall be boundless. My graces stream down on souls that are humble…” (Diary 1602)
